Another pattern test for <a href="https://www.sucobysusana.com/" target="_blank">SUCO by Susana!</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This time it is the <a href="https://www.sucobysusana.com/collections/featured-patterns/products/alex-sweatshirt-pdf-english" target="_blank">Alex Sweatshirt</a> that I sewed for one of my boys. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern is a unisex pattern with some great options.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G5yxbTpnPXw/XmO--bo-zYI/AAAAAAAAHUs/b33PwLNzVeAQYCfuekJTo4jcMzwpmbfigCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20200304_084358a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G5yxbTpnPXw/XmO--bo-zYI/AAAAAAAAHUs/b33PwLNzVeAQYCfuekJTo4jcMzwpmbfigCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/20200304_084358a.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Some of the options include color blocked or solid front and sleeves, a hood or neckband, kangaroo pocket, waistband or elastic waist, cropped or regular length, lined or unlined hood. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wow! Even writing that I get excited about all the options available and the ability to mix and match those options. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h_5XNgIylmQ/XmO--oovacI/AAAAAAAAHUw/BlGEQ85KJIgmwzWQ0o5j9cPOo2VBNeeLgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20200304_084407a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h_5XNgIylmQ/XmO--oovacI/AAAAAAAAHUw/BlGEQ85KJIgmwzWQ0o5j9cPOo2VBNeeLgCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/20200304_084407a.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern includes instructions for finishing the neckband/hood seam so that there is no exposed seam in the back for the neckband and all around for the hood option. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is also separate pattern pieces for using ribbing or regular knit for the neckband and waistband so you don't have to go searching high and low for ribbing that will match. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a bamboo sweatshirt fleece for the main and a thin jersey for the lining, cuffs, waistband, and drawstrings.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EZ2DgBTjvqk/XmO--HxERYI/AAAAAAAAHUo/C4RTVja5FOsA5XncXSmYMtMd44AWkYjhwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20200304_084423a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1088" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EZ2DgBTjvqk/XmO--HxERYI/AAAAAAAAHUo/C4RTVja5FOsA5XncXSmYMtMd44AWkYjhwCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/20200304_084423a.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My son is thrilled with the sweatshirt and I'm excited to have a pattern with so many options that I can sew for both my boys and girls in sizes 12 months to 14 years. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I could even fit into the size 14 so this pattern covers almost the whole family here. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can buy the pattern <a href="https://www.sucobysusana.com/collections/featured-patterns/products/alex-sweatshirt-pdf-english" target="_blank">here</a>! </div>

<a href="https://www.sucobysusana.com/" target="_blank">Suco by Susana</a> has put out a great jeans pattern for girls--the <a href="https://www.sucobysusana.com/products/laura-jeans-pants-shorts-pdf-english" target="_blank">Laura Jeans and Shorts</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had the pleasure of testing the pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QLqmw87hCeQ/XkqrJhRRC1I/AAAAAAAAHUQ/bJp-x4L4R8IPskuLUpT5Hunk3R2aGSQYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20200211_090250a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="779" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QLqmw87hCeQ/XkqrJhRRC1I/AAAAAAAAHUQ/bJp-x4L4R8IPskuLUpT5Hunk3R2aGSQYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/20200211_090250a.jpg" width="193" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love the details on the pattern--flat felled seams, a very tidy finish inside, clear instructions for a fully functioning fly, a coin pocket, and it even includes 6 templates for the topstitching on the back pockets. I did do my own design but the pattern does have a heart design as well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern instructions gives tips on topstitching without topstitching thread so you can topstitch in any colour! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F3wUTzbLnqk/XkqrI9Wg_4I/AAAAAAAAHUM/TZWrvlwnAHY36p-6rxrRgUjksTWsiz1PACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20200211_090209a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1187" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-F3wUTzbLnqk/XkqrI9Wg_4I/AAAAAAAAHUM/TZWrvlwnAHY36p-6rxrRgUjksTWsiz1PACLcBGAsYHQ/s400/20200211_090209a.jpg" width="296" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8A7CzZHhC3A/XkqrIioU6YI/AAAAAAAAHUI/9qXzKFIrHDsNnK2nHxthemi00oV3mpyEQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/20200211_090212a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1137" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8A7CzZHhC3A/XkqrIioU6YI/AAAAAAAAHUI/9qXzKFIrHDsNnK2nHxthemi00oV3mpyEQCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/20200211_090212a.jpg" width="283" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before I even signed up to test, I checked with my daughter if she liked the look of the jeans. I didn't want to go through the process of sewing a pair of jeans for her only to have her say she didn't like them. So, not only does she like the look of them, she also enjoys the fit of them. We felt the fit was spot on, using the measurement chart. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was excited to get a chance to sew up these <a href="http://tidd.ly/92eaf89f" target="_blank">Rockets in Dusty Mint</a> from <a href="http://tidd.ly/ba2a6166" target="_blank">Threadsmitten</a>! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My 2 year old was also very excited when I showed him the fabric and told him I'd make him a shirt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6UbIOTwH0rE/XhTMIt7TTfI/AAAAAAAAHSw/2rXj_HdGRlU16bw_3ORAgMzY7FyrddP7wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DSCF5462a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1404" data-original-width="1288" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6UbIOTwH0rE/XhTMIt7TTfI/AAAAAAAAHSw/2rXj_HdGRlU16bw_3ORAgMzY7FyrddP7wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/DSCF5462a.jpg" width="293" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to use an old pattern found in the <a href="https://amzn.to/37NYHvd" target="_blank">Sewing for Boys</a> book!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've sewn a lot of patterns from that book--it's one of my most used sewing books. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rXr3021zMBw/XhTMIHhsL4I/AAAAAAAAHSs/4oAk8vAAJNI_yO2WYsSlQzF68uJ3nXaHwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DSCF5466a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1412" data-original-width="1336" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rXr3021zMBw/XhTMIHhsL4I/AAAAAAAAHSs/4oAk8vAAJNI_yO2WYsSlQzF68uJ3nXaHwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/DSCF5466a.jpg" width="302" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One modification I made to the pattern is that I used cuffs and a band to finish it off. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to add a pop of black and this way the shirt will last a while longer for my growing boy! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xOsBOpDbrQ8/XhTMMABivYI/AAAAAAAAHS4/0wOaYe8UlQ4YZii3JIchjg1Nhczg6dFTACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DSCF5467a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1125" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xOsBOpDbrQ8/XhTMMABivYI/AAAAAAAAHS4/0wOaYe8UlQ4YZii3JIchjg1Nhczg6dFTACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/DSCF5467a.jpg" width="225" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iSjgjXwzXtM/XhTMNGwazVI/AAAAAAAAHS8/M_TLaOUT_UACYYovkoW9dGPLgCz3N7_IACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DSCF5469a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="947" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iSjgjXwzXtM/XhTMNGwazVI/AAAAAAAAHS8/M_TLaOUT_UACYYovkoW9dGPLgCz3N7_IACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/DSCF5469a.jpg" width="189" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The quality of the fabric is very nice. It is an organic cotton lycra jersey and is quite wide at 65". It is printed in Europe by Elvelyckan Designs and is GOTS certified! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GAjcXeCWwSs/XhTMKc64JFI/AAAAAAAAHS0/fc8QqFxe98k6GlObamN1NNqM09Vun0whgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/DSCF5463a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GAjcXeCWwSs/XhTMKc64JFI/AAAAAAAAHS0/fc8QqFxe98k6GlObamN1NNqM09Vun0whgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/DSCF5463a.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'd best run and get some of these <a href="http://tidd.ly/92eaf89f" target="_blank">Rockets in Dusty Mint</a> from <a href="http://tidd.ly/ba2a6166" target="_blank">Threadsmitten</a> today! </div>

<a href="https://sinclairpatterns.com/?tm=fenna_otten" target="_blank">Sinclair Patterns</a> has come out with another amazing pattern--the <a href="https://sinclairpatterns.com/product/lauren-elegant-knit-draped-top-and-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern/?tm=fenna_otten" target="_blank">Lauren Top and Dress.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4vNm3s7Kky8/XDvKKHimsMI/AAAAAAAAHIE/7ogEqgrwCk8T3U8-4CNlpa6NiBbofQVigCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5253a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1071" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4vNm3s7Kky8/XDvKKHimsMI/AAAAAAAAHIE/7ogEqgrwCk8T3U8-4CNlpa6NiBbofQVigCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5253a.jpg" width="267" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to sew up a top with 3/4 sleeves in a drapey sweater knit.<br />
I made the error of using more of a 2-way stretch than a 4-way--this fabric has minimal vertical stretch. It would definitely work better in 4-way but is definitely still wearable in what I'll call 2-way!</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The drapes fall so nicely and the neckline is done so that I can bend over without any modesty issues.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0ah-RO0G62U/XDvG3xoDw4I/AAAAAAAAHHw/EJkFN6qQPnMsc4vh_o44hQMXWiUbeKdhACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5249a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1530" data-original-width="741" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0ah-RO0G62U/XDvG3xoDw4I/AAAAAAAAHHw/EJkFN6qQPnMsc4vh_o44hQMXWiUbeKdhACLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5249a.jpg" width="192" /></a><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--zQLFlmGlSA/XDvHJRgQG-I/AAAAAAAAHH0/X-Zltc8D-wo4NhSFKDcdvawIIafrbc9rQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5248a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1584" data-original-width="796" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--zQLFlmGlSA/XDvHJRgQG-I/AAAAAAAAHH0/X-Zltc8D-wo4NhSFKDcdvawIIafrbc9rQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5248a.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It looks great either with jeans or a skirt, hemmed or banded.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TdSmc0_9IiE/XDvHRIGQl_I/AAAAAAAAHH4/pQJXe3RjCeUHtjYT9XUzaRsng77G4Um9QCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5250a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="689" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TdSmc0_9IiE/XDvHRIGQl_I/AAAAAAAAHH4/pQJXe3RjCeUHtjYT9XUzaRsng77G4Um9QCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5250a.jpg" width="171" /></a><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-STBiP4MCs8o/XDvKS83NRnI/AAAAAAAAHII/uJoPK6nxDXAM4biC253HsyVX6K5q0XSqQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5255a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="750" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-STBiP4MCs8o/XDvKS83NRnI/AAAAAAAAHII/uJoPK6nxDXAM4biC253HsyVX6K5q0XSqQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5255a.jpg" width="187" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The asymmetrical neckline is what drew me to the pattern at first--it is different from any of the other patterns I have in my big stash of patterns.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Us3XYM27Wb8/XDvIgugRyZI/AAAAAAAAHH8/8ryRnXClHbk-1eMqsTSZS39SwUaydXGRQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5251a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1596" data-original-width="1005" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Us3XYM27Wb8/XDvIgugRyZI/AAAAAAAAHH8/8ryRnXClHbk-1eMqsTSZS39SwUaydXGRQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5251a.jpg" width="251" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Quite a bit actually. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you follow my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/fabuloushomesewn" target="_blank">Facebook Page</a> you can see all that I've been up to.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, I thought I'd share a little on here about one outfit I sewed up recently.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W7Tac4FgJ54/XCqhxPCTS7I/AAAAAAAAHHQ/WFU0OirSIsUPAk8dKtMFQUAZQWE_RW3swCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5237a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="626" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W7Tac4FgJ54/XCqhxPCTS7I/AAAAAAAAHHQ/WFU0OirSIsUPAk8dKtMFQUAZQWE_RW3swCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5237a.jpg" width="156" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Both fabrics I bought in a destash at the beginning of the year and I finally got a chance to sew them up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pants are the <a href="https://shop.truebias.com/product/hudson-pant" target="_blank">Hudson Pants </a>by <a href="https://shop.truebias.com/" target="_blank">True Bias</a> in an athletic knit.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-03Ns6W-wvOY/XCqhx1ETLtI/AAAAAAAAHHU/R6WjiLUnvtwbL5v7264mPim9wKkc2aHvQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5238a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1545" data-original-width="885" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-03Ns6W-wvOY/XCqhx1ETLtI/AAAAAAAAHHU/R6WjiLUnvtwbL5v7264mPim9wKkc2aHvQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5238a.jpg" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The top is the <a href="https://www.patternsforpirates.com/product/favorite-tee/" target="_blank">Favorite Tee</a> by <a href="https://www.patternsforpirates.com/" target="_blank">Patterns for Pirates</a> in a double brushed poly. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose the curved hem option and raised the neckline by at least two inches. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w7crbMZv82A/XCqhyBcUjWI/AAAAAAAAHHY/RCA4ZU-CuLQ_VhBNWd_p3GIbIzIpM4ezgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF5239a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="773" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w7crbMZv82A/XCqhyBcUjWI/AAAAAAAAHHY/RCA4ZU-CuLQ_VhBNWd_p3GIbIzIpM4ezgCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF5239a.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is such a comfy outfit--perfect for these winter days where I don't want to leave the house! </div>

<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've never yet owned a little black dress. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That is, until now.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As soon as I saw the <span style="line-height: normal;"><a href="http://tidd.ly/fe183c93" target="_blank">Black Paisley Lace Fabric</a> at </span><a href="http://tidd.ly/6dd4b31b" style="text-align: start;" target="_blank">Minerva Crafts</a><br />
<div style="text-align: start;">
</div>
<span style="line-height: normal;">I knew it'd be perfect as an overlay on a dress. I just needed to pick the pattern.</span><br />
<span style="line-height: normal;">For the bottom layer I chose a soft <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/black-bamboo-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">bamboo cotton jersey</a> from <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Sew Lovely Fabrics.</a></span><br />
<span style="line-height: normal;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xi4b4b_aClU/Wzbc1JbU45I/AAAAAAAAHGc/k-F94c4oQL8UtHM0WTQw9dPXSQ0OzkT6ACLcBGAs/s1600/agnes%2Blace.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="948" data-original-width="1600" height="189" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xi4b4b_aClU/Wzbc1JbU45I/AAAAAAAAHGc/k-F94c4oQL8UtHM0WTQw9dPXSQ0OzkT6ACLcBGAs/s320/agnes%2Blace.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After some deliberation I settled on the<a href="https://lddy.no/6vg6" target="_blank"> Agnes Dress</a> by <a href="http://lddy.no/50re" target="_blank">Halla Patterns</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was swingy and seemed to have enough fabric to accommodate a growing baby belly. </div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ar818-BZDxg/WzbbYUrawHI/AAAAAAAAHFw/3jwYqjxjmscUS4W2aTDyjZ245nSPScAyQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4786a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1141" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ar818-BZDxg/WzbbYUrawHI/AAAAAAAAHFw/3jwYqjxjmscUS4W2aTDyjZ245nSPScAyQCLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4786a.jpg" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did have to hack the <a href="https://lddy.no/6vg6" target="_blank">Agnes Dress</a> pattern a little.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Because I wanted to do sleeveless and double layered, I chose to use the burrito roll method (you can find a good tutorial <a href="https://littlelizardking.com/blog/2017/7/12/sewing-how-to-burrito-roll-method" target="_blank">here</a>!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vxdp_PZ2gFI/WzbbbYrSTCI/AAAAAAAAHGA/srsNz9pTNL8KEvrohabzqI1rsOM9rSvZgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4792a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="940" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Vxdp_PZ2gFI/WzbbbYrSTCI/AAAAAAAAHGA/srsNz9pTNL8KEvrohabzqI1rsOM9rSvZgCLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4792a.jpg" width="187" /></a><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7QURoiQ1MGc/WzbbbEGYz_I/AAAAAAAAHF8/M9qdKzM7xQoYxaJ6pNC6n_p9rkLfP3H2QCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4789a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="998" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7QURoiQ1MGc/WzbbbEGYz_I/AAAAAAAAHF8/M9qdKzM7xQoYxaJ6pNC6n_p9rkLfP3H2QCLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4789a.jpg" width="199" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The dress is comfy and will be perfect for dates or special occasions. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Inwgsn3RSRU/WzbbalhwMsI/AAAAAAAAHF4/mej5RTirzUMb7oAMVaUziL7ZEJBBELn9QCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4788a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1270" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Inwgsn3RSRU/WzbbalhwMsI/AAAAAAAAHF4/mej5RTirzUMb7oAMVaUziL7ZEJBBELn9QCLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4788a.jpg" width="254" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm thinking I can add a shrug or cardigan in the colder months as it's often cold up here. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wxB-Grmmr04/WzbbZC_O39I/AAAAAAAAHF0/sIZi_zqwv_Q8gwRm9z0F4Zl1y6vETAILACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4787a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="676" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wxB-Grmmr04/WzbbZC_O39I/AAAAAAAAHF0/sIZi_zqwv_Q8gwRm9z0F4Zl1y6vETAILACLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4787a.jpg" width="135" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A bit of a story here: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I sewed this up in the Spring when I was about 17 weeks pregnant, got the pictures taken at 22/23 weeks (I was on semi bed rest), edited them, and then I ended up in the hospital on bed rest for 12 weeks. That's why I'm finally posting about it now!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the meantime we had a handsome little man who was born at 35 weeks by scheduled c-section, and I'm slowly getting back into sewing and blogging. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fFGVIyKg75o/WzbbXovledI/AAAAAAAAHFs/tZXO1azDY0odqww628T2KsEbW2waIBVjACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4784a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="813" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fFGVIyKg75o/WzbbXovledI/AAAAAAAAHFs/tZXO1azDY0odqww628T2KsEbW2waIBVjACLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4784a.jpg" width="162" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g-NonjiK7oE/WzbbXZtas8I/AAAAAAAAHFo/DxKcV7Yive0ZoUYNn3qtolvrBTDFX2G6gCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4780A.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="906" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g-NonjiK7oE/WzbbXZtas8I/AAAAAAAAHFo/DxKcV7Yive0ZoUYNn3qtolvrBTDFX2G6gCLcBGAs/s320/DSCF4780A.jpg" width="181" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This dress hasn't gotten much wear other than the pictures yet but I'm looking forward to being able to wear it when I'm done nursing my new little man. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Summer time! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A time of short sleeves, shorts, and bare feet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A time of freezies, water fights, and endless hours playing outside.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How I love summer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, what better way to get my littles dressed for summer than by sewing up a fun pair of <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/product/tess-tulip-shorts-girls/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Tulip Shorts!</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To make them even more summery, I sewed them up in a breezy linen. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next time I hope to add some trim to the petals--they'd look lovely with some pretty white trim peeking out. </div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Welcome to my stop on the Boys in Summer Blog Tour!<br />
Having 4 boys, I tend to do a fair bit of sewing for boys, and this was another perfect opportunity to sew up a great boy shirt again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1PBH4f6EtqI/Wvi4prqaR4I/AAAAAAAAHEs/XPvo-2XhHNMqWZpStBxhn6t4l6AUaisHQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4619a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="937" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1PBH4f6EtqI/Wvi4prqaR4I/AAAAAAAAHEs/XPvo-2XhHNMqWZpStBxhn6t4l6AUaisHQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF4619a.jpg" width="233" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/the-discoverer-tee-unisex-pattern/?aff=440" target="_blank">Discoverer Tee </a> by <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/?aff=440" target="_blank">Ellie and Mac</a> <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(affiliate links)</span> and let my son choose the fabric.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He chose pretty basic fabrics--solid cotton lycra knits, but the design of the pattern definitely adds some interest with such basic fabrics. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_J68zkOE5lQ/Wvi4qePbeSI/AAAAAAAAHEw/jJvUDO_4jt0ZeGM_49QHDuFlCqZoRBfKgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4618a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1246" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_J68zkOE5lQ/Wvi4qePbeSI/AAAAAAAAHEw/jJvUDO_4jt0ZeGM_49QHDuFlCqZoRBfKgCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF4618a.jpg" width="311" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will confess this shirt has been worn and washed before I could grab pictures of it, and I forgot to iron it after the washing. He's pretty thrilled with it and was very eager to wear it. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GfwkUPFvZqA/Wvi4qZeXFZI/AAAAAAAAHE0/naXmCLAIAH4d5xDRPJIBPUsVyYDggUCNQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF4620a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="947" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GfwkUPFvZqA/Wvi4qZeXFZI/AAAAAAAAHE0/naXmCLAIAH4d5xDRPJIBPUsVyYDggUCNQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF4620a.jpg" width="236" /></a></div>
<br />
I really like this pattern as it's a looser fit and my boys really enjoy that as they do not like tight fitting shirts. Plus as I said before, it's not just a basic tee--it has a cool design element that takes it up a notch.<br />
If you don't have this pattern yet or are looking for a cool boys pattern (even my <a href="http://fabuloushomesewn.blogspot.ca/2018/02/sewing-something-sew-lovely.html" target="_blank">older boys</a> like this shirt!) be sure to go buy the <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/the-discoverer-tee-unisex-pattern/?aff=440" target="_blank">Discoverer Tee </a> by <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/?aff=440" target="_blank">Ellie and Mac</a> <span style="font-size: xx-small;">(affiliate links) </span><br />

<a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Sew Lovely Fabrics </a>once more has an amazing <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product-category/preorder/" target="_blank">preorder </a>open! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fabrics are from Raspberry Creek Fabrics so these are milled and printed in North America.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I got to try out the<a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/preorder-cherry-blossoms-and-stripes/" target="_blank"> Cherry Blossom and Stripes</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fabric sews up very nicely and it is a lighter weight cotton jersey fabric which is perfect for summer dresses and tops. </div>

I think I've fallen in love with bamboo cotton jersey.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is so soft and the drape is amazing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is perfect for spring or summer tops.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I saw that <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Sew Lovely Fabrics</a> had in some bamboo cotton jersey stripes, I knew I needed to try them out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to try out the <a href="mailto:https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/pre-arrival-charcoal-mix-everglade-bamboo-cotton-jersey-stripes/" target="_blank">Charcoal Mix & Everglade</a> and I'll admit I ordered a few more to try out on my own as well! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My son needed a new shirt for Church for Spring/ Summer so I chose to sew up the<a href="https://newhorizonsdesigns.com/product/suburban-basic-tee/?affiliates=8f14e45fceea167a5a36dedd4bea2543" target="_blank"> Suburban Basic Tee </a>from <a href="https://newhorizonsdesigns.com/?affiliates=8f14e45fceea167a5a36dedd4bea2543" target="_blank">New Horizons Designs</a>. I did do the sleeves a little different--I added enough at the bottom to hem it instead of cuffing it. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fabric is available now from <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Sew Lovely Fabrics</a> so be sure to check it out! </div>

<span style="font-size: xx-small;">(This post contains affiliate links!)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I thought it'd be fun to share some of my sources for some of my favourite sewing supplies.<br />
This is so far from an exhaustive list but it's a short, fun list of items I love and enjoy using.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://tidd.ly/a3bd4949" target="_blank">Pear Shape Safety Pins</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://tidd.ly/a3bd4949" target="_blank"><img height="301" src="https://img.etsystatic.com/il/3fb5cd/1176258764/il_570xN.1176258764_9vl3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These are great for attaching your tags to your items if you're selling or gifting. They are delicate but add such a pretty touch! Add your washing instructions, logo tag, or even a personal note to your items. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://tidd.ly/7e3747ec" target="_blank"> Buttons from Skull Buttonry</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<a href="http://tidd.ly/7ce39e1c" target="_blank"><img height="359" src="https://img.etsystatic.com/il/ea43e2/421914570/il_570xN.421914570_as0b.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://tidd.ly/9106296e" target="_blank"><img height="368" src="https://img.etsystatic.com/il/40be31/357547517/il_570xN.357547517_5b9u.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The selection here is amazing! I've gone with mainly plain wooden buttons but the painted ones would add an amazing touch to your handmade garments. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These ship from Australia but arrive in a very reasonable time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://tidd.ly/fd1a9ab7" target="_blank">Zippers from Zipper Island</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All your zipper needs in one place. Seriously. And the cost is very competitive as well. I stocked up on a lot of 7" zippers in a huge variety of colors.<br />
I'm not sure I'll ever get through them all, but I love having a wide selection on hand when I'm sewing little pouches or need to find a good match for certain fabrics.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Sew Lovely Fabrics</a> has some super sweet fabrics up for <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product-category/preorder/" target="_blank">preorder </a>(and these tulips are already in stock <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/preorder-watercolour-tulip-floral-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">here</a>!) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had a chance to sew up the <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/preorder-watercolour-tulip-floral-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">Watercolour Tulips</a> as soon as they came in and I'm very happy with this fabric. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the <a href="http://tidd.ly/f1b00ca1" target="_blank">Hazelbee Dress</a> in size 12 months and sewed up the play dress with flutter sleeves. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pink is a cotton lycra I had in my stash but if you are looking for some really nice co-ordinates, they have a <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/jazzy-pink-bamboo-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">Jazzy pink</a> and also a <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/preorder-light-blue-and-white-pin-polka-dots-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">blue and white pin polka dot</a>.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did finish the dress a little differently than called for. I did a neck band in the round instead of a neck binding before the last shoulder is sewn. </div>

Welcome to the '<span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Ellie and Mac Get Ready for Spring Blog Tour' hosted by 'Seams Sew Lo.'</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #1d2129;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i8RdKT0I-m0/WncX249vZ9I/AAAAAAAAHAM/s-q13S3tmPAqs4w1igabrBD6AdcoxtY_wCLcBGAs/s1600/27503922_10155898382021006_8865274514664162818_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i8RdKT0I-m0/WncX249vZ9I/AAAAAAAAHAM/s-q13S3tmPAqs4w1igabrBD6AdcoxtY_wCLcBGAs/s320/27503922_10155898382021006_8865274514664162818_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Spring is around the corner. Or we'd like to think so.<br />
Here in Alberta we can expect frost as late as the May Long Weekend, so it definitely feels like Spring is still a ways a way. But, we can be hopeful for an early spring.<br />
So we're sewing for Spring!<br />
I chose to use the <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/boys-sunday-morning-sweats-pattern/?aff=440" target="_blank">Boy's Sunday Morning Sweats</a> and the <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/the-discoverer-tee-unisex-pattern/?aff=440" target="_blank">Discoverer Tee</a> from <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/?aff=440" target="_blank">Ellie and Mac</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nfrp0w7wWqg/WnX58Qz0YSI/AAAAAAAAG_0/jUI3b2ey22sbD0J9-3XrQ1Z9rdGmbRz_wCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0493a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nfrp0w7wWqg/WnX58Qz0YSI/AAAAAAAAG_0/jUI3b2ey22sbD0J9-3XrQ1Z9rdGmbRz_wCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0493a.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
For the <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/the-discoverer-tee-unisex-pattern/?aff=440" target="_blank">Discoverer Tee</a>, I chose a lightweight jersey knit for the bottom portion and a slightly heavier weight cotton-lycra for the top and sleeves. The pattern comes with a long sleeve and a short sleeve option so you can make this year-round.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-prg6UBZRMcc/WnX57V0fBrI/AAAAAAAAG_s/JNC6gKVG3aIzajfFddfsenjx2IpKZbi5ACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0503a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1161" data-original-width="702" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-prg6UBZRMcc/WnX57V0fBrI/AAAAAAAAG_s/JNC6gKVG3aIzajfFddfsenjx2IpKZbi5ACLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0503a.jpg" width="241" /></a><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yN_Ksen6x5M/WnX58iM44jI/AAAAAAAAG_4/uTuEKykx89ADoVWH4okzkM37FRUwmkxXgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0513a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1341" data-original-width="879" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yN_Ksen6x5M/WnX58iM44jI/AAAAAAAAG_4/uTuEKykx89ADoVWH4okzkM37FRUwmkxXgCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0513a.jpg" width="261" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The <a href="http://ellieandmac.com/boys-sunday-morning-sweats-pattern/?aff=440" target="_blank">Sunday Morning Sweats</a> are basically shorts over a narrower almost legging-like pant. I only used the shorts part of the pattern for these shorts, but again they could be a good year-round pattern. They have a yoga waistband with no elastic so they're pretty comfy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QVlhwLWfnYI/WnX58Li5UXI/AAAAAAAAG_w/zSsUN2l5fCkxKkvzASbPvRNVMjBG8slMwCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0489a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QVlhwLWfnYI/WnX58Li5UXI/AAAAAAAAG_w/zSsUN2l5fCkxKkvzASbPvRNVMjBG8slMwCLcBGAs/s640/DSCF0489a.jpg" width="360" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even though we're having a snow storm today and it's -30C with windchill my son decided to keep wearing this after pictures--he loves a good pair of shorts. </div>
<br />
Shirt fabric is from <a href="http://www.girlcharlee.com/create_account.php?refid=7764" target="_blank">Girl Charlee</a> (an old print) and <a href="https://watertowertextiles.ca/" target="_blank">Water Tower Textiles</a> (solid).<br />

<a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">Sew Lovely Fabrics</a>--a brand new fabric shop in Alberta, Canada that offers cotton jersey fabrics that are milled, printed and/or dyed in North America.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The fabrics I used are both <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product-category/bamboo-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">bamboo cotton jerseys</a>--<a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/chili-bamboo-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">chili </a>and <a href="https://sewlovelyfabrics.com/product/charcoal-mix-bamboo-cotton-jersey/" target="_blank">charcoal mix</a>. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(Just to clarify--the bamboo fabrics are from overseas but are part of their sustainability fabrics and pass all required tests.)<br />
<br />
First of all, the packaging!<br />
It was like receiving a present, it was so nicely wrapped.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple of samples were included--I think I'm in love with the Bamboo Fleece--I may have to try that one out as well.</div>

Last but not least, the fabric. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bamboo jersey is so soft! </div>

<br />
My son chose which fabric would go where and his one request for the pattern was that it wasn't too tight--either in the arms or the fit. I think we accomplished that.<br />

I used to be an avid reader but have not read as much in the last number of years as I find I get lost in a book and have a hard time putting them away. Also, the little time I feel I have I want to use to read books that help me to grow in my faith and knowledge of God. However, as a homeschooling mom it is good to read the books that my kids will be reading and to keep my brain sharp. So...I will try to join in on this challenge:</span></span></span></span><br />

In December I had some fun doing a couple of small quilting projects--mug rugs! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For a couple of years already I've been wanting to make some of my friends a small Christmas gift and this year I finally got to doing it for four of them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bGwwTxzDbFg/WnDasWfCDZI/AAAAAAAAG-4/KJyWjt_qiCY5S1e5MDeb3h61p16FJdjUgCLcBGAs/s1600/20171216_142301a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1047" data-original-width="1600" height="261" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bGwwTxzDbFg/WnDasWfCDZI/AAAAAAAAG-4/KJyWjt_qiCY5S1e5MDeb3h61p16FJdjUgCLcBGAs/s400/20171216_142301a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had so much fun coming up with different ideas for each one, and working with each of their favourite color combos. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This first one I found a cool idea on Pinterest with stacked tea cups, so I found some neutral colors in my stash to make them and then appliqued them with sketch-like stitching. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1jW3BfRePr8/WnDa05fbyTI/AAAAAAAAG_A/0vjSUiwGQ1gb-Bog9lfwAvVYDGmgYfrVgCLcBGAs/s1600/20171222_111127a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1201" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1jW3BfRePr8/WnDa05fbyTI/AAAAAAAAG_A/0vjSUiwGQ1gb-Bog9lfwAvVYDGmgYfrVgCLcBGAs/s400/20171222_111127a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next up I used my Dresden ruler and just sewed them together along the long ends, alternating the direction. Navy, yellow, and teal were the colors of choice here. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kHURFjWgvJE/WnDazb3QR2I/AAAAAAAAG-8/GZAomiupeOAbJS0j4LSwljUod3Af-bwnwCLcBGAs/s1600/20171222_111210a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1133" data-original-width="1600" height="282" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kHURFjWgvJE/WnDazb3QR2I/AAAAAAAAG-8/GZAomiupeOAbJS0j4LSwljUod3Af-bwnwCLcBGAs/s400/20171222_111210a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Black and white, grey and blue. This one has random strips sewn together and then the blue fabric, I fussy-cut around the design in the fabric. It turned out so bold and fun!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2b-Z3RUvWcQ/WnDa1CFZD4I/AAAAAAAAG_E/PbaVbSXeWLsbNdg-lSIqohfuVMN50s3oQCLcBGAs/s1600/20171222_111247a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1062" data-original-width="1600" height="265" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2b-Z3RUvWcQ/WnDa1CFZD4I/AAAAAAAAG_E/PbaVbSXeWLsbNdg-lSIqohfuVMN50s3oQCLcBGAs/s400/20171222_111247a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The last one has the hearts appliqued onto a piece of white fabric and then I reverse appliqued that behind the Essex linen. This one is based on my plates and cups--this friend has always loved the color of my plates and cups. They look almost like Delft blue but are actually a Martha Stewart set from Sears years ago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was neat, working with the fabric I had on hand, doing some different quilting techniques (mostly free motion and straight lines), and trying to be a little artsy with fabric.</div>

I'm quite excited that one of my favourite <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">shops </a>will be having Sunshine Sunday Sales!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First up in the sales is the <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/product/maggies-top-tunic-dress-girls/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Maggie Top Tunic and Dress</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Xx0qq5eT60/WmJkPr_of7I/AAAAAAAAG-c/AluBJBDEnsgAh3cCznvjTJQzqyb_buN6ACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0466aa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Xx0qq5eT60/WmJkPr_of7I/AAAAAAAAG-c/AluBJBDEnsgAh3cCznvjTJQzqyb_buN6ACLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0466aa.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This pattern comes together very nicely. It has three length options (top, tunic, and dress) and three sleeve options (short, 3/4, and long).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to sew up the tunic length with short sleeves. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cnhc7UtMHD0/WmJkPhH2mTI/AAAAAAAAG-Y/4DhNDnAsAPoF1zZiPw0P6rSjjKkS6dyUACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0467aa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cnhc7UtMHD0/WmJkPhH2mTI/AAAAAAAAG-Y/4DhNDnAsAPoF1zZiPw0P6rSjjKkS6dyUACLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0467aa.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is a slimmer fitting top/tunic/dress so as a tunic it's perfect over skinny jeans or if your daughter is the legging wearing type over a decent pair of leggings. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PavcLCAAudk/WmJkPYr5pcI/AAAAAAAAG-U/67VrJbQFzxgrBpwjiE7PMXyTX97x5X0UgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0469aa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="918" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PavcLCAAudk/WmJkPYr5pcI/AAAAAAAAG-U/67VrJbQFzxgrBpwjiE7PMXyTX97x5X0UgCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0469aa.jpg" width="228" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm sure I'll be using this pattern over and over to make tops for my daughters. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The size range is 6 months to 12 years, so it's a pattern you can use for years and with all the options it works for all seasons. </div>

It's that time of year where we're thinking about getting a fresh start on our habits, new wardrobes, and trying new things. Join me and my fellow bloggers this week as we showcase how we're getting a Fresh Start with DG Patterns. (Be sure to read on to learn about our sponsor <em><strong>giveaway</strong></em>)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.dgpatterns.com/wp/?wpam_id=112" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="483" data-original-width="1050" height="292" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jVtRs-fnTHU/WlOsLLKazsI/AAAAAAAAG9w/7Yr34ESxD6oI0r-lGCquqbCF-58O5gMCQCLcBGAs/s640/25791056_10211719518644926_8328949618135794221_o.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to admit--I was pretty nervous to sew up the </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://tidd.ly/b131f7d0" target="_blank">Sarah Dress and Top</a> from <a href="http://www.dgpatterns.com/wp/?wpam_id=112" target="_blank">DG Patterns</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
DG Patterns is a new to me designer and there were not a lot of examples elsewhere of the Sarah Dress sewn up, but I had been eyeing it for awhile because I loved the center pleat detail, so when I had the opportunity to sew it up I signed up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I had second thoughts as I was about to cut my fabric--I even messaged the organizer of the tour to express my concerns!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, I'm so glad I did sew it--it turned out to fit very well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h7tYIruI9YM/WlKr1p3zIvI/AAAAAAAAG9E/tl4aYbCSjpcIMko6mankvIvcaMBKqY6CwCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0462a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h7tYIruI9YM/WlKr1p3zIvI/AAAAAAAAG9E/tl4aYbCSjpcIMko6mankvIvcaMBKqY6CwCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0462a.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did make a couple of mods. I lowered the neckline by about an inch and instead of just turning the neck and sleeve under and topstitching, I bound them. Partly to bring the neck and sleeve openings in nicely to avoid any possible gaping. Also, the blue fabric is soft on the inside but it's 'itchy' on the outside and I didn't want to turn that in towards the inside. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pgvQSNuA6Kk/WlKr0YKSiYI/AAAAAAAAG84/5-H-E6LsJx8Ky8vwMePCOzfYvXHqqVjUgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0456a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="768" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pgvQSNuA6Kk/WlKr0YKSiYI/AAAAAAAAG84/5-H-E6LsJx8Ky8vwMePCOzfYvXHqqVjUgCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0456a.jpg" width="190" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hrnFJjsOSI8/WlKr00cI_1I/AAAAAAAAG9A/UdgRWgTZELkeljm6c54K747jKuVfoXpFACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0461a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="795" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hrnFJjsOSI8/WlKr00cI_1I/AAAAAAAAG9A/UdgRWgTZELkeljm6c54K747jKuVfoXpFACLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0461a.jpg" width="197" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also added a little bit of length for the short dress version. I added an inch to the bodice and an inch to the skirt part. I wanted a dress that hit around the knees--not too far above. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YJ7-IrQmDmc/WlKrzzL5OcI/AAAAAAAAG80/bWpjv0laCxcORwaZsOF0HgRO-DFZssXZACLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0459a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1266" data-original-width="723" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YJ7-IrQmDmc/WlKrzzL5OcI/AAAAAAAAG80/bWpjv0laCxcORwaZsOF0HgRO-DFZssXZACLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0459a.jpg" width="227" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Would I recommend this pattern? </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes! With the mods I made I love how it turned out. There are also other options included in the pattern such as a pleated top and a long dress as well as a basic top, short, and long dress. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are also four different sleeve options. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose the pleated short dress and sleeveless.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vSHyVuXTOSI/WlKr0Z1c_VI/AAAAAAAAG88/fR57kj7Ra7cc16z-Cnm8V87VhgwL__kkgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0457a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1527" data-original-width="741" height="640" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vSHyVuXTOSI/WlKr0Z1c_VI/AAAAAAAAG88/fR57kj7Ra7cc16z-Cnm8V87VhgwL__kkgCLcBGAs/s640/DSCF0457a.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm quite excited about this dress and am looking forward to an opportunity to wear it out.</div>

I have a new favourite t-shirt pattern for men.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The <a href="https://sinclairpatterns.com/product/tao-classic-raglan-t-shirt-for-men-pdf-sewing-pattern/tm/fenna_otten" target="_blank">Tao Raglan</a> by <a href="https://sinclairpatterns.com/?tm=fenna_otten" target="_blank">Sinclair Patterns</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had the privilege of testing this pattern and was impressed by the quality of the drafting and how well the pieces fit together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Plus, the final result is well worth the amount of fabric needed for men's clothing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1uM31bZqpoA/WlKr_xdfPbI/AAAAAAAAG9M/zHVxGAq7_zgSTIies_79XkXEuSpCj3d3wCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0445a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="760" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1uM31bZqpoA/WlKr_xdfPbI/AAAAAAAAG9M/zHVxGAq7_zgSTIies_79XkXEuSpCj3d3wCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0445a.jpg" width="190" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern comes in short, regular, and tall and it is a multi-sized pattern so all the tall sizes are nested. As are the short and regular--each in a separate file. This makes blending sizes easy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(This is a newer feature for Sinclair patterns, so if you were turned off by the individual sizing in the past, do check this one out!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is a regular length and a tucked in length, long and short sleeves. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to make the regular, tucked in length with short sleeves. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AuMH8P23I4I/WlKsALCtylI/AAAAAAAAG9Q/wKn_B6ASpyoXVjkFq-Gl1_X-2ULq4jbcgCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0451a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="688" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AuMH8P23I4I/WlKsALCtylI/AAAAAAAAG9Q/wKn_B6ASpyoXVjkFq-Gl1_X-2ULq4jbcgCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0451a.jpg" width="171" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fabric used is a lighter weight, drapey athletic jersey for the body and another unknown content fabric--both of which I got off a destash. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8mOwK4vPODI/WlKr_448JuI/AAAAAAAAG9I/lyNbAbITyNUR6WyF47v1M1SmgcFdWnC7gCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0455a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="850" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8mOwK4vPODI/WlKr_448JuI/AAAAAAAAG9I/lyNbAbITyNUR6WyF47v1M1SmgcFdWnC7gCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0455a.jpg" width="211" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This pattern will be getting more use--I think it'll be my go-to for shirts for my husband. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome to my stop on the New Sews for the New Year blog tour! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my boys has been finally outgrowing his clothes so when he was complaining that all his sweaters were too small, I knew he was next on my list. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yh9Oy1uzTBM/WkVWrTCcM4I/AAAAAAAAG8M/M0igO2OrQI8Bb65RWs4DHP5ywGL4pZPFgCLcBGAs/s1600/20171228_131052a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="990" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yh9Oy1uzTBM/WkVWrTCcM4I/AAAAAAAAG8M/M0igO2OrQI8Bb65RWs4DHP5ywGL4pZPFgCLcBGAs/s640/20171228_131052a.jpg" width="393" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Though it's not a new pattern, I chose to start off with the <a href="http://www.welcometothemousehouse.com/product/dress-up-hoodie/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Dress-Up Hoodie</a> from <a href="http://www.welcometothemousehouse.com/shop?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Mouse House Creations. </a> I love the fit of this hoodie and the style of the front of the hood--perfect for some fun grommet details that I've been wanting to try! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KXDIi3vWvvg/WkVWuDDDIVI/AAAAAAAAG8Q/sBHJ42d15WgmhTRYdcn4zOVxklF23w-4QCLcBGAs/s1600/20171228_131018a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KXDIi3vWvvg/WkVWuDDDIVI/AAAAAAAAG8Q/sBHJ42d15WgmhTRYdcn4zOVxklF23w-4QCLcBGAs/s640/20171228_131018a.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since the grommet details aren't included in the pattern (neither is the drawstring), I'll provide a little info on how I did it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ironed the squares on with Heat 'n Bond, stitched them on, and then ironed some sturdy interfacing to the back part. Next, I punched the holes in and added the grommets. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The drawstring is about 1.25" wide strip of fabric that has curled in on itself--great for making it match well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

A first time for me doing a hoodie that I had to insert the grommets on my own, and also a first time sewing from yardage of jogging fleece. I usually just cut up old sweaters and re-use the <a href="http://fabuloushomesewn.blogspot.ca/2015/04/upcycled-hoodie.html" target="_blank">details</a>. Socks!<br />
Who thought I'd sew myself socks?!<br />
I've been wanting to try out some of the sock patterns from <a href="https://www.thewolfandthetree.com/" target="_blank">The Wolf and Tree</a> before so when the opportunity to do a blog tour came up, I knew I wanted to join.<br />
I chose to sew up the <a href="https://www.thewolfandthetree.com/products/ladies-knockout-socks-dressy-socks-adult-pdf-sewing-pattern" target="_blank">Ladies Knock-Out Socks</a>.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LDb1xlxXKU0/WhngavYyBbI/AAAAAAAAG6o/al8B4ZRJD08Vr8arqzfv0urvOoP3_NzhACLcBGAs/s1600/20171122_143711a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LDb1xlxXKU0/WhngavYyBbI/AAAAAAAAG6o/al8B4ZRJD08Vr8arqzfv0urvOoP3_NzhACLcBGAs/s640/20171122_143711a.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They're the perfect length for wearing in boots and they're great for when you want to keep your legs warm in the cold winters here! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to upcycle a turtleneck sweater I found at the thrift shop--I love a good upcycle. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The neck part of the sweater became the optional heels and the rest is made of the body with a small part used from the sleeves for the bands.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-83lc399bsIk/WhngZCn0sPI/AAAAAAAAG6k/5czPYROZG6cS6FK1fl6C2tZMBTIibnoRACLcBGAs/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1286" data-original-width="1600" height="321" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-83lc399bsIk/WhngZCn0sPI/AAAAAAAAG6k/5czPYROZG6cS6FK1fl6C2tZMBTIibnoRACLcBGAs/s400/Untitled-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I saw the sweater, I knew that some of my vintage lace would be a perfect match to add that special touch. Who doesn't love a bit of lace peeking out over the top of boots?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pattern has an optional top of toe seam as well as at the end of the toes, so I chose the top of the toe seam. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did have to slim the toe and front of foot part down a little from the pattern but otherwise, there are no modifications made. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I do think with my fabric choice that I'd put elastic in the band next time or make the bands tighter. This fabric has a lot of stretch so they do start coming down after a bit of wear. If they were made with a fabric with better recovery they'd stay up better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fAhqyBX7siw/WhngcQ5lp3I/AAAAAAAAG6s/HHr7q0-9LKg6QsHU4AwcwaEnDS7DrLtmgCLcBGAs/s1600/20171122_143729a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fAhqyBX7siw/WhngcQ5lp3I/AAAAAAAAG6s/HHr7q0-9LKg6QsHU4AwcwaEnDS7DrLtmgCLcBGAs/s640/20171122_143729a.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Overall, I'm quite happy with the pattern and the socks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With the option of 2 way or 4 way stretch there are so many fabrics you can use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Plus, there are a lot of options on how to finish the top to make them fit your style. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All patterns in the <a href="https://www.thewolfandthetree.com/" target="_blank">shop </a>are on sale until the end of the blog tour, so be sure to stock up on all the $5 and under patterns! </div>

<br />
I am not a winter person.<br />
At all.<br />
Up here in Alberta the weather gets cold. And it is a long winter often starting in October and ending with a final burst of snowfall or frost on the May long weekend. We don't plant gardens until after the May long weekend for that reason, though the weather can be decent for two months before that weekend.<br />
But, I do love the coziness of having Christmas decorations up and all the yummy baking.<br />
Add in cozy blankets, warm drinks, books, and friends and I'm all set.<br />
It is a 'gezellig' time of year!<br />
<br />
When I finally decided on how I wanted to sew up the <a href="https://5outof4.com/product/womens-nancy-raglan/?affiliates=192" target="_blank">Nancy Raglan</a> from <a href="https://5outof4.com/?affiliates=192" target="_blank">5 Out Of 4</a>, I decided to add long sleeves to combat the cold. </div>

<div style="margin: 0px;">
I color blocked the sleeves to give a bit of a layered look and then tied the black back in with the neckband. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of our traditions is to fry Oliebollen for New Years! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is a Dutch treat that I grew up with--I remember helping my mom fry Oliebollen in the shop every year. Our neighbours would come over and we'd have pails of batter to fry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They were always the best straight out of the fryer after they cooled enough to bite into. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, they're delicious for days after with a bit of icing sugar sprinkled over them or a pile to dip them in as you eat it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can even freeze them and reheat them in the microwave. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the recipe I've started to use--it's not the same as my mom's as she used the boxes from the Dutch store...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like the ease of that but I don't get out to the Dutch store often enough. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I searched and searched and finally found a <a href="http://www.oliebollen-recept.nl/" target="_blank">recipe </a>which I've tweaked a little and translated. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u><b><span style="font-size: large;">Oliebollen</span></b></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">150 gr. Currants</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">200 gr. Raisins</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">200 gr. Apples cut into small chunks</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">6 tbsp lemon juice (or juice from 2 lemons) </li>
<li style="text-align: left;">80 gr. butter, softened</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">1 litre milk, scalded and cooled to luke-warm</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<ul>
<li>1 kg flour</li>
<li>80 gr. yeast (about 8 tsp)</li>
<li>3 tbsp white sugar</li>
<li>3 eggs</li>
<li>1 tsp salt</li>
<li>Oil for deep frying</li>
<li>Icing sugar for dipping! </li>
</ul>
<div>
Directions:</div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>Soak raisins and currants in hot water for a couple of hours. </li>
<li>Sprinkle the lemon juice over the apple chunks to keep them from turning brown. </li>
<li>Place raisins, currants, and apples in a bowl. </li>
<li>Let the yeast 'soften' in the warm milk.</li>
<li>Put the flour in a large bowl (it will need to have room to rise!) and make a dip in the middle. </li>
<li>Add the eggs and the butter. Mix well. </li>
<li>Add the sugar. </li>
<li>Now, slowly add the milk/yeast mixture, stirring as you add.</li>
<li>Make sure there are no clumps in the dough. None. </li>
<li>Add the raisin/currant/apple mixture.</li>
<li>Now, add just a dash of lemon juice. Mix.</li>
<li>Add the salt and mix again. </li>
<li>Let it rise in a warm place with a tea towel covering it until it is risen 1/3 or so--about 45 minutes. </li>
<li>Now, comes the fun part! Deep frying them. Heat the oil in your deep fryer and take a scoop (about an ice cream scoop at a time) of the dough and drop it in the oil. Fry and flip halfway through until it is a nice golden brown color. </li>
<li>Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and place them in a paper towel-lined bowl. </li>
<li>To serve, serve warm with icing sugar to dip or sprinkled over. Delicious! </li>
</ol>
</div>

It's always neat to try out new-to-me pattern designers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, to test a pattern for them is a lot of fun as well as you get to know the amount of work that is put into their patterns. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One such shop is <a href="https://www.halfmoonatelier.com/" target="_blank">halfmoon ATELIER</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The <a href="https://www.halfmoonatelier.com/collections/all-patterns/products/boat-neck-anegada" target="_blank">Anegada Boat Neck</a> is a simple pattern in a way but there are some neat details that set it apart.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It has 2 views. I chose to do view B which includes a neckband and pleats. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5X2XXluK2Ag/Wd51T5FOW9I/AAAAAAAAGzM/yd55MrjFOo4_vAbaslMtMelxYujXNZ8JACLcBGAs/s1600/Fenna2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="854" data-original-width="494" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5X2XXluK2Ag/Wd51T5FOW9I/AAAAAAAAGzM/yd55MrjFOo4_vAbaslMtMelxYujXNZ8JACLcBGAs/s400/Fenna2.jpg" width="231" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The longest part of sewing this pattern is forming the pleats--the rest is a quick and easy sew and the neckband cut on the bias provides some stability to the boat neck, preventing it from stretching out too far. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dlv-yA6bMuU/Wd51UZu2kuI/AAAAAAAAGzQ/iYZC4GSU9zkJoGG4G_aGq6Y57fGUKt_4gCLcBGAs/s1600/Fenna1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="884" data-original-width="422" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dlv-yA6bMuU/Wd51UZu2kuI/AAAAAAAAGzQ/iYZC4GSU9zkJoGG4G_aGq6Y57fGUKt_4gCLcBGAs/s400/Fenna1.jpg" width="190" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The fit was spot on for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, depending on fabric choice, you can change up the look significantly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Plus, with a view A which does not include a neckband but instead folds the bodice back a little at the neck to reveal some of the wrong side of the fabric and a waistband and sleeve cuffs, you have even more options! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can buy the pattern <a href="https://www.halfmoonatelier.com/collections/all-patterns/products/boat-neck-anegada" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This hoodie has so many options.</div>

A basic raglan hoodie and a variety of pattern pieces that you can use to dress up your hoodie. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose to do my final test as a shark for my youngest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The hoodie comes together very easily and quickly. </div>

I used a freezer paper stencil to paint the eyes on the hood and the words 'FEED ME' on the front.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To stabilize the fin, I added some fusible fleece on both pieces before sewing them right sides together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another tester came up with the idea to put the teeth on the lining of the hood and I love how that turned out. It's not as costume-y and more of a wear-every-day style which is my style. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The neat thing about this pattern is that you can use the pattern pieces included and use your creativity to come up with all sorts of creatures/ideas. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Each hoodie can be made as you want. </div>

I can see the deer ears being used to make a cow, some have made a fox, angry bird, etc.</div>

So many ideas!</div>

I recently had the pleasure of testing a pattern for <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Bella Sunshine Designs</a>!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The new <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/product/apple-cardigan-ladies/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Ladies' Apple Cardigan. </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LUrGNpN3Or8/Wd50-qVQoQI/AAAAAAAAGzE/2KlWOOt5zRI4n9400c5xwBePAtMwqJvcQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCF0421a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="852" data-original-width="470" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LUrGNpN3Or8/Wd50-qVQoQI/AAAAAAAAGzE/2KlWOOt5zRI4n9400c5xwBePAtMwqJvcQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCF0421a.jpg" width="220" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I saw the preview pictures, I knew I wanted in on the testing--I loved the look of it and my sewing to-do list was almost empty. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, I had to make sure I had enough fabric as the fabric requirements weren't the usual 1.5 yards or so for a cardigan but 2 5/8 yards. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After finding this fabric in my stash, I signed up and soon found out why the fabric requirements were larger than I expected: the cardigan has a half circle skirt which takes up a fair amount. I think I used around 2 yards with stripe matching on a size 6. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There were a couple adjustments made after the version sewn here (and that version was tested by the stage 3 testers!) The sleeves were slimmed down below the elbows and widened around the biceps. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As with all the patterns I've sewn from <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">Bella Sunshine Designs</a> the pattern came together very well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was a super easy and quick sew and it's perfect for fall layering! (If you have a fall...I think we skipped it as it was cold and snowing when we took these pictures!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can get the pattern <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/product/apple-cardigan-ladies/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">here </a>and there is also a girls' version of this pattern which you can get <a href="https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/product/apple-cardigan-girls/?affiliates=fbredenhof" target="_blank">here</a>. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The ladies' version is on sale for $6.50 until October 24th, no code needed! After that it'll be $9. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The girls' version is on sale for $5.50. </div>
